Korea Seed & Variety Service Transfers Technology for Plant Variety Protection Examination to Developing Countries

◇ An invitation and training program has been implemented as a development and cooperation project by the Korea Seed & Variety Service and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) for public workers in order to enhance the capabilities of variety protection systems and DUS examination technology.  

   ○ (Outline of program) four weeks from May 15 (Monday), 2015 - June 10 (Saturday); 12 people from six countries*

  * Ghana, Sudan, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Peru, the Philippines 

 

○ (Training contents) Theories and practices of new variety cultivation examination for the protection of                  plant breeders’ rights; seed industry promotion policies; visits to advanced breeding research centers; the 

   establishment of action plans for commercial application;reports on the status of seed industries by countries, etc.



◇ The program will raise awareness of the protection of plant breeders’ rights and contribute to the creation of an            environment for the application and registration of Korean cultivars in overseas countries.
